Tirthankar Mukharjee, Ranaghat : The Cyber Crime Police Station of the Ranaghat Police District has successfully apprehended two nefarious cyber fraudsters from the Ranaghat Coopers Camp area. The aforementioned duo has been accused of commiting an felony involving fake job advertisements on social media platforms.
According to police reports, the fraudsters would post enticing job advertisements online, complete with contact numbers to lure unsuspecting job seekers. When interested candidates reached out, the fraudsters would provide them with counterfeit application forms, demanding money under various pretexts such as registration charges, security deposits, and other fees for their wrongful gain.

The delinquents priliminarily targeted young individuals seeking employment opportunities, exploiting their desperation to swindle them out of significant sums of money. The police, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a search operation that led to the recovery of a substantial number of SIM cards, bank passbooks, mobile phones, and other incriminating evidence from the possession of the accused.

The operation was meticulously planned and executed,” said a senior officer from the Cyber Crime PS. “We have recovered ample pieces of evidence that will strengthen & bolster the case against these fraudsters & misdemeanors.
Legal proceedings have been initiated as per suitable section of law against the arrested delinquents. The police have also issued a public advisory, requesting rank & file of Ranaghat to be cautious when responding to online job advertisements and to verify the authenticity & veracity of such offers before making any payments.
